Walmir Secchi Latin Dance Center (CDL Walmir Secchi) is specialized in rhythms of latin and neo-latin countries which are danced with a partner – salsa, lambada, tango, merengue, bolero, rumba, samba, cumbia, forró, paso doble, mambo, casino, cha cha cha and also waltz.

The Dance Center was founded over 10 years ago and has already graduated more than 5.000 students, becoming a good reference for teachers, professionals in the artistic field, schools and admirers. It carters for all members of the public: from those who have never had any contact with dancing to professional dancers, actors and also to those who use dancing for therapeutic means

The Center has students of different ages, social status and cultural levels, with the predominance of professional adults. There are people from all segments of the community and of 20 different nationalities.

CDL Walmir Secchi is unique in Brazil in this area. In 1997 Cia Latinu’s was formed by a group of teachers and students from the Dance Center. Today it has become one of the most representative professional companies of latin culture in Brazil. In 1998 it became the first orchestra of tango of southern Brazil, with 02 “bandoneon”, 01 violin, 01 acoustic bass, 01 singer and 01 pianist. The Orchestra and the Cia Latinu’s joined and became The Dance Company and Orchestra of Tango of Curitiba. Since then all tango shows have had live music.

In 1999, CDL Walmir Secchi became the first dance school in Brazil to have all day ballroom dance classes (from 7:30am to 22:30pm). In 2000 and 2001 it promoted several times the “Latin Nights” considered the biggest ballroom dance party of the southern Brazil – this event has been held successfully every first Friday of each month. In 2001 a site was also created - www.danca.com.br - and the first virtual dancing club in the world will be available in 2002.

All the methodology, techniques and didactics of the courses and classes were created, structured and renewed by the teacher, founder and owner of the center: Walmir Secchi, and they are based on nature’s elements: domination, freedom and improvisation.

The art of dancing is inherent in the human being - it is in his nature - but sometimes is blocked or latent. Dancing is something that is not taught, it is born with. It is the professional’s duty to stimulate development by the movement and the psychological, technical and body work.

To dance with a partner requires constant improvisation and dominion of freedom.]
